Why "Whole-Body Work"?
-
The limbic system (the emotional part of the brain) takes in sensory information and processes it, sending a message to the cortex (the logical part of the brain) to either “rest and digest” or “fight or flight.” These messages correspond with the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system's responses and the body's physiological response. When the brain endures chronic stress or mental health issues, the physiological response in our nervous system and organs is directly affected as well.
-
Treating the physiological response to stress or mental health issues teaches the body and brain to communicate properly when triggers are present, enabling the body to overcome the obstacle appropriately and reset to homeostasis.
-
Physiological messages can travel faster than emotional and logical messages in the body. If we only treat the mental and emotional effects of mental health issues, the body may physiologically still be responding in a stress response when it is not needed.
-
Working in conjunction with a functional medicine doctor, as Marrow Counseling and Saint Joseph Chiropractic collaborate, a whole-body treatment plan can be developed to aid in a full-body healing journey.
-
Resetting the vagus nerve physiologically through specialized techniques allows for physiological healing from long-term stress or mental health issues.
-
Treating the effects on your organs from long-term stress or anxiety and depressive symptoms reduces the long-term negative effects on the organs, allowing the body to function optimally and improving overall health.
